Self-Care for Mental Health Professionals
Programme Description
This CPD programme is designed to address the critical need for mental health practitioners to prioritize their mental health while providing professional care for others. It will therefore equip counsellors and other mental health professionals with the knowledge and skills necessary to safeguard their own mental well-being and, in doing so, enhance their ability to provide effective, empathetic, and sustainable support to their clients.
Programme Outcome
By the end of this training, participants will be able to;
• Explain the fundamental role of self-care in maintaining personal well-being and promoting effective delivery of mental health services.
• Recognize the signs and risk factors associated with burnout and compassion fatigue in their area of work.
• Create and implement a tailored self-care plan that incorporates psychological, emotional, physical, and social elements that promote resilience and sustainability in their professional roles.
• Apply various self-care techniques and modalities to optimize their personal mental and physical health.
• Demonstrate improved self-awareness, and a drive to inculcate self-care practices into the daily routines
