Parenting and Childhood Mental Health

Programme Description

This CPD programme is designed to provide counsellors, psychologists, and mental health professionals with knowledge and strategies to support parents in fostering healthy mental development in children. The course will focus on the relationship between parenting styles, childhood mental health outcomes, and common mental health challenges that arise during childhood. Participants will be equipped with the tools necessary to guide parents in creating nurturing, supportive environments that promote psychological well-being in children

Programme Outcome

At the end of this training, participants shall be able to;
• Demonstrate an understanding of the relationship between parenting practices and childhood mental health.
• Identify common childhood mental health challenges and how they are influenced by family dynamics and parenting.
• Counsel parents on evidence-based strategies to support their children’s mental health and emotional development.
• Offer guidance on managing environmental and family-related stressors that contribute to childhood mental health challenges.
